We offer the following to make your visits with us more comfortable:
Music - Music can help eliminate the sounds that many people find objectionable. Please feel free to bring any CD's (we will provide the CD player) or your own personal music player to your appointment.
Movies - Movies can help bring the focus away from the longer dental services we offer at our office. Please let us know in advance if you would like to watch a movie during your visit and we will reserve one of our "movie rooms" for you. (We provide comfortable, full coverage head phones).
Oral sedatives - A variety of oral medications (pills or liquids) can be used prior to your visit to reduce your anxiety level. For your safety, we will insist that you have arrangements to have someone drive you to the office and drive you home after treatment is complete.
General Anesthesia - We work with a General Anesthesiologist that can be scheduled to come to our office for your dental appointment. This is a good option for patients who need extensive dental work and are extremely phobic or anxious.
Blankets / Eye Pillows - Please let us know if you would like a nice warm, flannel blanket or an eye pillow (this can help keep out the overhead lights) or feel free to bring in your own blanket/pillow/teddy bear to your dental appointment.
Other - There are various other methods to help patients cope with stress and anxiety of dental treatment. The best methods are those that help you learn to overcome and control your concerns about dental care. Some may include:
1- behavior modifications/retraining by competent psychologists or psychiatrists
2- repeated office visits and consultations to desensitize your preconceived fears
3- graduated office visits that allow you to expand your treatment as your coping abilities improve
**As with all forms of anesthesia, analgesia, and sedation, certain risks are inherent and present**
