Here at our office, we provide everything from the extraction of a diseased tooth to the bone grafting, (if needed) the placement of the actual dental implant and the eventual implant crown. Most of our patients that have an implant placed tell us that the surgical procedure was easier than having the tooth extracted and most people have very little post-surgery discomfort.
A dental implant is typically managed in three phases. The surgical placement of the implant post is the first phase. A healing time of 6 months to one year is typical after the first phase. The second phase is to expose the integrated implant and place an abutment or healing cap. The third phase is for the actual crown that is made to go over the implant. The crown takes two visits. The whole procedure can take a year or longer, depending on how quickly the patient heals after the first phase.
